2011: A year to be thankful

As 2011 winds down, AutoNation would like to take this opportunity to express our thanks.

Customers and associates

First and foremost, we’d like to give thanks to all of our customers and associates.

To our customers: We know you had a lot of choices of where to buy and service your vehicles and we are honored that you chose us. We promise not to take that privilege for granted and we will continue to deliver an unsurpassed shopping, buying and ownership experience now and in the future.

To our associates: You are truly the life of AutoNation. All of our achievements have been the result of the strong work ethic, gifted leadership and the infinite passion of you and over 19,000 AutoNation associates across the country. You make us proud.

8,000,000 vehicles sold

A lot of work goes into selling just one car. In 2011, we sold the 8 millionth car in our history. It was a historic landmark that we will not soon forget and we will be forever thankful for. To celebrate, we gave the car away. That’s right! AutoNation and Honda of Dulles gave away our 8 millionth vehicle to Wendy Byrd Kang, a United States Army Civil Affairs Specialist.

Our communities

Since 1997, AutoNation has donated over $30 million to our communities. This year, we are thankful to be able to touch the lives of so many people and families.

On August 9, the Team Automotive Group partnered with The Bert Show, and gave the Stark family a van. But this wasn’t just any family or just any van. Will Stark recently lost his wife and was raising six adopted special needs children by himself. The Team Automotive Group eagerly donated a fully loaded 12 passenger Ford E-350 van to his family.

In the fall of this year, we were thankful to support the opening of the AutoNation Academy of Art and Design in downtown Fort Lauderdale. Because of our donation, the studio school was able to expand their facilities and offer more classes to the South Florida community.

To be recognized and congratulated by one’s peers is a distinction that goes far beyond numbers and stock prices. It is a sign of reverence that we are grateful for and always respect. In April, AutoNation was chosen as the 2011 Business of the Year by the South Florida Business Journal.

But a company is only as great as those who lead it. Thankfully, AutoNation has Mike Jackson as CEO. In 2011, Mr. Jackson received the Ernst and Young Florida Lifetime Achievement Award, the FAU 2011 Business Leader of the Year award and was appointed to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Miami Branch Board of Directors. Mr. Jackson was also #37 on Fortune Magazine’s 2011 Businesspreson of the Year list.

New and Remodeled Stores

In order to better serve our customers, AutoNation was able to purchase new stores and remodel some of our existing ones. Plus, we were appreciative to add FIAT to the AutoNation family.

Here is just a sample of some of our new and remodeled stores:

Thank you for a great 2011 and here’s to an even better 2012. Have a happy, healthy and safe Thanksgiving from all your friends at AutoNation.
