Going beyond making the deal

At AutoNation, the comfort and trust of our customers are a priority. Gary Gainan, General Sales Manager at Champion Ford Mazda in Corpus Christi, Texas, exemplified this in this touching story:

A pair of loving parents recently bought their son, a soldier in the U.S. Army, a 2010 F150. Sadly, their son was injured by an improvised explosive device (IED) and was being rehabilitated at a military hospital. He would not be able to drive for many months.

The customers returned the truck to Gary for possible resale. Gary, having learned of their personal situation, worked hard to make sure the truck was resold quickly – with no loss to the customers.

In the customer’s own heartfelt words: “Please understand that the business part of the deal was not the issue. It was my wife’s pain of returning the truck knowing her son’s status. Gary understands, feels the need for compassion and puts the customer first beyond making a deal. You will have all of our future business because of Mr. Gainan’s passion for people.”
